Upright Five of Cups is another very straightforward tarot card. Its keyword is sorrow. Now this can be related to anything in the relationship. But what is certain here is that one of the lovers has been hurt very deeply.

Interestingly, this tarot card can also represent the guilt trip that occurs after the end of the relationship. I once did a reading for a girl whose boyfriend just out of the blue broke up with her because he started to think that things were getting too boring for him with her. In the beginning they had a very loving relationship and they both knew that they were perfect for each other. Now in the reading, the tarot cards came out all negative which signaled how badly he was thinking about the relationship. It disappointed her and thus she asked me whether he would ever miss her at all. To know this, I had to do another reading of single card to check how he would feel about her after a month and basically that is when things turned out to be very positive. Now the tarot card that appeared was Five of Cups. What this implied to us was that after a month he would finally get some common sense to figure out what he had lost. Thus, he would miss her greatly.

Reversed Five of Cups tarot card heralds that the sorrow is over. The two lovers have reconciled and so they are happy. However, if the relationship is over then the reversed Five of Cups implies that the person is in the process of getting out of the memory of his past relationship.
