Eight of Cups is another straightforward tarot card in the Rider Waite tarot deck. It basically says that something is amiss in your relationship and although you feel disappointed about it you are choosing to move away from it. Now this can mean a temporary breakup. Perhaps, you are thinking that you can no longer stand your lover and so breaking up is the best thing to do. But the truth is that you will again renew your relationship with him at a later time. Eight of Cups comes from minor arcana and so it does not have the power of the Death tarot card which sometimes shows a real breakup.
Interestingly, Eight of Cups can be taken as good news for a person who just got out of a relationship, for it signals that he is healing from the situation. Also he is ready to understand as to why things fell apart for him in the past. However for feelings, Eight of Cups is a negative tarot card, for it implies that your love interest simply does not think that you are right for him. So he is going away from you.
Reversed Eight of Cups still tells emphasizes that there are problems in the relationship. But you just cannot understand whether you should get away from them or try to get rid of them. Either way, you are hurting. Things are very sickly for you since you think that if you break up with your lover then you will remain single all your life because no one will ever approach you for a long term relationship. In short, you lack self esteem. This is also tied to the feelings of the love interest. That is, he does like you, but it is just that he does not have a good self esteem which can make him walk up to you.
